Dehumidifiers are used to dry the air and its surroundings and are usefull after a leak or a flood or after plastering or the like to extract excess moisture.
Because dehumidifiers gently extract moisture they are better suited to drying an area than just applying heat.
Heating an area too quickly in an attempt too dry it can cause damage like shrinking or cracking due to moisture being released too fast.
Dehumidifiers reduce the amount of moisture in the air by creating a very cold surface that excess moisture can condense on and return to water which is then collected in a container.
Dehumidifiers use the same basic principal as Air Conditioning except that the air is drawn over the evaporator then across the condenser so the air returned to the room is only slightly warmer than the air that entered.
Some of our hire units contain an electic heater which can improve the extraction rate as warmer air can hold more moisture.
